With Holtec International formally seeking approval to discharge radioactive wastewater from the Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station into Cape Cod Bay, the Association to Preserve Cape Cod is pressing for the Healey-Driscoll administration to invoke the Ocean Sanctuaries Act, effectively giving “no” as a final answer on the grounds that it is not allowed by law.

Meanwhile, organizers of the Walk to Save Our Bays is highlighting and supporting the association’s legal efforts as they prepare to walk in solidarity on Saturday. The event gathers at the Plymouth Town Hall, 26 Court St., and proceeds for five miles to the Holtec-Pilgrim site. There will be buses to bring participants back to town hall at 3 p.m.

“We call for no permit, no dump,” the organization says on its event announcement, echoing the message the association is putting out.
